Rethink Church

What is church?

In the original language of the scriptures, church (ekklesia) means a calling out into assembly. So in a more modern term a gathering.

We want to rethink what church means in our American context. Most likely when you think of church, you think of going to church. You think of a building with a steeple.

However that is far from what Jesus actually wants. The church in Biblical terms alwys seems to talk about the people or the body of Christ. Even when you look at the term synagogue it means a gathering of persons. It doesn't seem like God has ever meant church to mean a building. He means it to be you and others. For us to live as the church. To meet together as the church. For us to be the church.

Rethink Relationships

We want to rethink relationships. Where we take every encounter with a person as an opportunity to love them. To share the love of Christ. To step back and see from their shoes or their eyes. Jesus said that the two greatest commandments were: â€œâ€˜Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:37-39niv) Rethink your relationships to where love is the main goal and factor. Where we put aside differences and opinions to love one another.

Rethink LIFE

Retinking life to where we find life in Jesus, not in possesions, or relationships, or achievements but living abundantly in Jesus. Where we find LIFE in Christ and through Him, instead of through our trying and attempts. Jesus said:  â€œCome to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." (Matthew 11-28-29niv)

When we live through Him, we find LIFE.
